Blog Summary

My Blog on the smart coffee cup has really evolved over the last weeks. I began with this idea of a revolutionary coffee cup that would change how people enjoy drinking coffee on the types of temperatures they want. I began to expand on this idea when i learned about how i could use computers to improve on my product to the point where i could make this idea a reality.

I commented on Sarah Schuster blog  http://imanentrepenuar.blogspot.com/ her idea on creating charity connect can relate to my SCP. If i wanted to give out coffee cup to people i would definitely use her website as a way to publicize my product. Sean Cheatham blog http://seancheatham195.blogspot.com/ is an interesting idea, if someone needed to share the location or the website of my smart coffee cup they could do it instantly with his BCI. Brittany Moore http://bmoore02.blogspot.com/ is a great idea on how you can improve on something that is already popular.

My experience with the project has been wonderful i received a lot of comments from people who are also interested in the idea and think this could be possible. Thanks to the lectures in class i was able to learn about different things i need to know before i could start on my project. I hope this idea can become true one day and i had a great time with the project.

Week 7: Networking

Understanding networking is very important if your are interest in computer based projects. Internet protocol is the rules of communication, it includes syntax and semantics and it consist of small acts. The HTTP in the internet are the 4 step process between client and web servers. There are other internet protocols such as IMAP, POP, SMTP, and many more. The more restricted protocols are parent protocols TCP Transmission Control Protocol and IP that stands for Internet Protocols

If i want to make a webpage that will show the content of my idea "Smart Coffee Cup" I will need to understand how the internet works. Every node on the internet needs and IP address to communicate and a set of four bytes. I will need to make a domain name similar to the 1800Flowers used in phones. A domain name is an alias for an IP address. I will need to know about ICANN which is reponsible for managing and coordinating the Domain name system. I can probably buy or sell my domain name, this is very important because i do not have to think hard for a perfect idea that is probably already taken.

Creating a website for my project can be difficult because i have to manage servers. I have to be able to understand servers and how do they work. Giving out webpage information and quickly so that my server don't leave it open. I will about the command PING and the command TRACERT to see how fast my webpage information is given users. Creating a smart coffee cup webpage is an interesting way to share my product and if people are truly interested and can make my product sale better.

Week 6: Operating Systems & Digital Colors

Every technological instrument has an Operating system to manage hardware and software resources. There are many types of operating system today and the most popular ones are Windows 7 for computer and smart phones, Mac Os for computer and Mobil devices and Android which is mainly on mobile devices. My Smart Coffee Cup would need a operating system to work. The operating system i would use can range from man types like Windows and Mac which are available today. My best idea is to create my own operating system based on the coffee cup that would be unique to this idea.

Some operating systems are single tasking meaning the user would run one command or one program and then exit from that program before running the next program. Other are multi-tasking meaning that can run a lot of programs simultaneously and there is no need to exit a program before running the next one. It would be a great idea if the operating system i made for my coffee cup could be open source, so the users w the could be able to modify the software and make it more appealing to there needs, for example if they didn't the default buttons on my coffee cup they could make them do other things. It would be amazing if one of the user  added different options to the coffee cup that are more beneficial.

When i will decide to publicize my smart coffee cup i would need to know about what color i would use for my web-pages and my posters. RGB is the type of color i would use if i want to print out flyer's about my Smart Coffee Cup. If i want to create a web page that has color i would not use the same color types as i did when i printed the flyer's, instead i would use Hex-Triplets which is color for web-pages. Knowing about the difference between the two is very important because it would save a lot of trouble, and i would fix the brightness and the saturation of the picture.

Week 5: Professional Blogger

Daniel World of Coffee is a blog page by Daniel that is strictly about coffee. Daniel goes around the world and discover different ways that coffee is being made around the world. Daniel takes pictures of every places he visit and post it as a link to his blog, his main idea is to show where coffee is coming from, how it is made and by who, and what exactly makes the best coffee. Daniel documents about the competition of coffee, he rates the coffee he tastes in every countries he visit and its a good way to know where the best coffee come from.
During his journeys around the world he record video of coffee manufacturers, in African countries coffee are mainly made by women. Daniel also take the time to rate the best coffee shop he has visited around the world, this can be beneficial to my project because after i create my smart coffee cup i would need the support of good coffee shops to sell my product.
Daniel moved his blogs from "Daniel Coffee Blogs" http://danielhumphries.livejournal.com/, to Daniel's World of Coffee http://danielhumphries.typepad.com/coffee/. His blog page can relate to my Smart Coffee idea because he is a professional on coffee and he probably faced the problem of waiting for the coffee to be the right temperature before you can drink.

Week 4: Input and Output

Input devices and Output devices affect our everyday lives, and I’m hoping to learn from these devises to make my Smart Coffee cup the best piece of technology it could be. My idea is to create a Coffee cup that could cool itself and reheat itself so I can't really add features like a camera on it because I won't be necessary. One thing I can add to my Smart Coffee cup is voice recognition; this feature can help the user feel safe about hit cup. The way it would be used is that the user can set a voice password that would allow him to open the coffee cup, but it effective because only he could do it so the coffee cup can only recognize his voice.

My coffee cup could be an input device if I decide to have a feature that could connect it to a computer and the options the user would have are to; manage the battery life, see if there is anything wrong with the coffee cup and probably more.  My coffee cup could also be output devices, by connecting a device like a phone to it you can have for example a hologram version of the phone screen and the user can interact with the hologram. These ideas are minor because they are not necessary for my coffee cup but they could be add-ons or extra feature to appeal to a wider variety of consumers.

I wanted incorporate the RFID technology to my coffee cup, but after thinking about i decided not to add it. The disadvantage of that technology turned me off, because it is not completely secure and it has a bad public perception I’m thinking it would hurt the sales of my coffee cup. Instead I was amazed by Google new technology called near field communication of (NFC). The first time I heard about this was when Google came out with a phone called the Nexus S, and it was NFC enabled. Back then the only feature that it could do was to read information from smart tags. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wk5mUdeEF8c
Now the technology has evolved and it could do more so hopefully I can incorporate the NFC technology to my Smart Coffee Cup and make it even better.

Week 3: Smart Coffee cup

To make my Smart Coffee cup i will need to have a powerful computer and i will need to know the part of the computer to make sure they can be helpful in creating my project. I will need a good case unit to contain the electronic component of the computer, I will need to pick a good motherboard and CPU for my computer. I need to know what kind of processor i will need, so know about gigahertz is very important if i want a fast and efficient computer.

Knowing about which kind of heat sink i will need is very helpful because i do not want my computer to overheat. Memory is another important variable i need to take into consideration, I need to know how much memory will be needed to support my project whether its Kilobytes or terabytes. Learning about RAM and Cache would prove very useful, i will know about Memory cache and how they speed the processes of the computer.

Building a computer for my project will prove to be very challenging and i need to be informed about expansion slots and adapter cards. Peripheral, sound cards, video cards, and memory cards are few things that would be necessary for my computer. Other things i will need to know are the ports in my computer because their is nothing worst than building a computer and messing up the connection. Being able to recognize port types and USB ports will help me very much. The information i learned would not only be useful in building my computer but they will also come in handy when i will start building the Smart Coffee cup, which will probably have similar steps because it will be like a mini computer in the coffee cup.

Smart Coffee Cup week 2

For my Smart coffee cup i will use different way to keep my idea from other so no one else can know about it. Nowadays social networks have low privacy settings, so I have to be very careful if i want some people to know about it. Facebook comes up with a new privacy setting like every two, and because the settings are so weak i will not be having any information relating to my project on Facebook.

To be more cautious i will examine the settings of all social websites if i want to put up some information about my idea. It is smart to assume that nothing is private on the web so i will act accordingly when sharing information. I will use Google and other search engines to monitor my project, it can help me make sure that leaked information or photos of my ideas are not spread on the web.

I will use Microsoft Exell, this software can help me create spreadsheets which can help me organize data in rows and columns and perform calculation on the data. It is very help because it has a lot of options, one of them is calculations. In Microsoft Exell there is a function called formula, this performs calculations on the data in the worksheet and display the resulting value in a cell, usually the cell containing the formula. Their is many other software that i can use that are custom made to help me design my project like Web page authoring software which can help me create web pages relating to my idea. Computers have come very far and thanks to new software that are made everyday to help people with their daily needs anybody can do anything if they have the right training and software on what they want to accomplish.

Week 1: Smart Coffee cup

Living in Syracuse is hell. We go through all possible weather conditions and it is plain annoying. My idea is to have a smart coffee cup or an S-cup. This invention can be very beneficial to people who love coffee and do not want cold coffee. Imagine having a coffee cup that can stay the same temperature no matter what weather conditions you are in. An amazing thing about the S-cup is that it can actually cool down your coffee to the temperature you want, so you don't have to wait for your coffee to cool before drinking it. The smart coffee cup can do it for you.
The winter in Syracuse is deadly, so I think having a coffee cup that can reheat the coffee or keep it at the same hot temperature when you are going through your everyday business is amazing. Winter is not the only season that the smart coffee cup can be used. Nowadays people buy iced coffee and the heat in Syracuse in the summer is also a problem. The S-cup can keep your iced coffee cold even when you leave it in your car and close all the windows. Thanks to this brand new invention, people from around the world can have the luxury of enjoying their coffee at whatever temperature they like and not worry about weather conditions.
This cup would be much like a thermos, but it would have three layers separating external elements from the coffee. The first layer is a sensory layer, which recognizes when coffee is put into the cup. The second layer is the layer responsible for the cooling and heating of the coffee. This layer is split between the coils that cool and warming plates where one side of the cup has the coils that extract heat from the coffee to keep it cool, and the other half has the coils that keep the coffee consistently warm or add greater heat. The third layer protects the user from any harm that could come from the cooling and warming process of the coils.
