Week 6: Operating Systems & Digital Colors

Every technological instrument has an Operating system to manage hardware and software resources. There are many types of operating system today and the most popular ones are Windows 7 for computer and smart phones, Mac Os for computer and Mobil devices and Android which is mainly on mobile devices. My Smart Coffee Cup would need a operating system to work. The operating system i would use can range from man types like Windows and Mac which are available today. My best idea is to create my own operating system based on the coffee cup that would be unique to this idea.

Some operating systems are single tasking meaning the user would run one command or one program and then exit from that program before running the next program. Other are multi-tasking meaning that can run a lot of programs simultaneously and there is no need to exit a program before running the next one. It would be a great idea if the operating system i made for my coffee cup could be open source, so the users w the could be able to modify the software and make it more appealing to there needs, for example if they didn't the default buttons on my coffee cup they could make them do other things. It would be amazing if one of the user  added different options to the coffee cup that are more beneficial.

When i will decide to publicize my smart coffee cup i would need to know about what color i would use for my web-pages and my posters. RGB is the type of color i would use if i want to print out flyer's about my Smart Coffee Cup. If i want to create a web page that has color i would not use the same color types as i did when i printed the flyer's, instead i would use Hex-Triplets which is color for web-pages. Knowing about the difference between the two is very important because it would save a lot of trouble, and i would fix the brightness and the saturation of the picture.

  1. You woudl be using RGB for any electronic media, but for printing you would be using CMYK. In thinking about operating systems, given that you are talking about putting an OS on an embedded device, you would probably be looking at very specialized OS's that are custom built for specific applications like button programming and what not.

  2. I think your idea for using an open source is great for your smart coffee cup because it puts the person in your website in full control of the website and lets them make any changes to the cup that they want to make, which is beneficial for your business. To promote your smart coffee cup using posters and flyers is a great idea. However you would wanna use CMYK colors for the flyers. Fixing up the brightness and saturation of your pictures of your cup is good because it can enhance the picture.
